I mean, I may not have actually met a lion yet.

But I feel like I should probably be prepared.

​

My story didn’t start out very happily.

​

For the first two years of my life, I was shuffled between shelters, neglected by people, and bullied by other dogs. By the time Ethan’s Hope found me, I was so frightened that I wouldn’t let anyone near me.

​

For two whole months, I wouldn’t let them touch me.

But they didn’t give up.

They didn’t force me.

They simply sat with me.

They waited.

They came back.

​

And slowly, very slowly, I learned that these people were different.

Eventually, I let them pet me.

And I’m SO glad I did.

​

For the first time, I learned what it felt like to be safe.

​

Now I have a cozy place to sleep, kind dogs to play with, and people who love me. I have learned that there are humans who will protect me instead of hurt me.

​

And I have also learned that humans sometimes stop petting you.

Which is completely unacceptable.

I usually remind them by giving them the look.

​

I’m still a little shy around new people, but I’ve come a LONG way. Give me a little time, patience, and kindness, and I’ll eventually figure out that you’re one of the good ones too.

I’m not looking for a perfect person.

I’m looking for a patient one.

Someone who will let me take my time, earn my trust, and then discover just how much love this girl has been saving up.
